Keyur P. Vora, MD, FACC, an investigator with the Ischemic Heart Disease Research Program at the Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center, Indiana University School of Medicine, has been selected to join the American College of Cardiology (ACC) Clinical Trials Research Program for 2024-2025. This honor places Vora among a leading group of 50 participants chosen for a comprehensive yearlong professional development program aimed at enhancing the skills and careers of the next generation of leaders in cardiovascular clinical trials research.
Vora, an assistant research professor of medicine at the IU School of Medicine, brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise in clinical cardiovascular diseases, interventional cardiac imaging and biomedical informatics. His recent contributions have significantly advanced research on hemorrhagic myocardial infarction, angiography and the application of artificial intelligence in cardiovascular medicine.
"I'm honored to be selected by the American College of Cardiology, which acknowledges my work in both the clinical and research aspects of cardiovascular medicine," Vora said. "This opportunity marks a significant step in advancing my knowledge and expertise in this vital field."
The ACC Clinical Trials Research Program, established in 2019, aims to foster diversity and success in the clinical trial research workforce, particularly among underrepresented groups in cardiology. It equips participants with essential leadership competencies and practical skills to enhance their research capabilities. The curriculum covers a range of critical topics, including accessing clinical trial leadership roles, securing funding for research, understanding the drug and device development process and navigating regulatory landscapes.
“As Dr. Vora prepares to join his peers at ACC.24 in Atlanta this April, the Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center celebrates his achievement and looks forward to the contributions he will make in the field of cardiovascular medicine through his participation in this program,” said Rohan Dharmakumar, PhD, executive director of the Krannert Cardiovascular Research Center and the Charles Fisch Professor of Cardiology at the IU School of Medicine.
