At every one of our medical education campuses, there is a wall painted in IU crimson with the words “One School, Nine Campuses, One Mission.”
That mission is to advance health in Indiana and beyond through education, research and clinical care. During the first days of medical school, at the White Coat Ceremony, and at commencement, we stand alongside our medical students and take the Hippocratic Oath. That oath is a pledge to uphold the highest standards of care, compassion and integrity for all people — a standard of care that relies on high-quality research and excellence in education. This oath remains the bedrock for the IU School of Medicine.
I appreciate that this is a very dynamic time in our state and in our country, and many of you may feel uncertain about the potential impact on your work, training or educational program. I encourage all of us to stay focused on our mission, which has stood the test of time for more than 120 years. We remain grounded in our commitment to advancing health for all, even as the ways we do so continue to evolve.
