Bio
David W. Dunn, M.D. is the Arthur B. Richter Professor of Child Psychiatry and Professor of Psychiatry and Neurology at Indiana University School of Medicine. He serves as the director of the child and adolescent psychiatry section and is residency training director for the child and adolescent psychiatry program and the combined pediatrics-psychiatry-child and adolescent psychiatry (triple board) program. Dr. Dunn received his B.A. and M.D. degrees from Tulane University. He completed an internship at Charity Hospital New Orleans, residencies in pediatrics and neurology at Tulane, a fellowship in child neurology at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, and residencies in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry at Indiana University. He joined the psychiatry department faculty in 1998. Dr. Dunn is certified by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Competence in Child Neurology, Psychiatry, Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, and Epilepsy.
Dr. Dunn has been president of the Southern Child Neurology Society, treasurer of the National Association of Pediatrics, Psychiatry, and Child and Adolescent Psychiatry Programs, and chairman of the NF Clinics Committee, National Tuberous Sclerosis Association Clinic Development Committee, Epilepsy Foundation Targeted Research Initiative for Youth Committee, the Department of Defense Tuberous Sclerosis Complex Research Program, and the International League against Epilepsy Child Neuropsychiatry Task Force. He is the author of over 200 articles and chapters and has participated in NIH sponsored research on behavioral and cognitive aspects of childhood epilepsy and industry sponsored psychopharmacology trials for ADHD, Tourette syndrome, and bipolar disorder. He has received teaching awards from Tulane University, Indiana University Department of Psychiatry, Indiana University, and the American Psychiatric Association.
