Bio
International expert in the field of Pediatric Ophthalmology & Adult Strabismus (misalignment of the eyes). Team ophthalmologist for the Indianapolis Colts football organization. Volunteer and consultant to Orbis International, famous for its MD-10 Flying Eye Hospital and teaching of eye care teams in low- to middle-income countries around the world. Dr Neely has been recognized as an Indiana Top Doctor by Indianapolis Monthly Magazine every year since 2012.
Undergraduate degree (B.S. in biochemistry) with honors (summa cum laude) from the Ohio State Univerity. Also graduated medical school with honors (cum laude and AOA) from The Ohio State University. Completed internship and ophthalmology residency at Univerity of Texas, Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas followed by fellowship training in Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus at Indiana University School of Medicine, Riley Hospital for Children. Practicing full-time Pediatric Ophthalmology and Adult Strabismus since 1998.
In addition to teaching residents and fellows in Pediatric Ophthalmology at Indiana University, Dr. Neely also teaches extensively in developing countries around the world as a volunteer faculty member with Orbis International, an ophthalmology teaching organization famous for its MD-10 Flying Eye Hospital and its Cybersight Telemedicine Program which Dr. Neely helps to direct. As a global expert, Dr. Neely specializes in all aspects of Pediatric Ophthalmology including: glasses and refractive errors (nearsightedness, farsightedness, astigmatism), amblyopia (lazy eye), surgical and nonsurgical treatments for eye muscle disorders (strabismus), pediatric cataracts and intraocular lens implants, pediatric glaucoma, retinoblastoma, hemangiomas, eyelid surgeries (ptosis), dermoids, retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) and telemedicine.
