Bio

Christopher S. Weaver, M.D., MBA is the Senior Vice-President and Chief Clinical Officer for Indiana University Health and a practicing emergency physician at Indiana’s busiest emergency department. As SVP & Chief Clinical Officer, Dr. Weaver is responsible for quality, pharmacy, supply chain clinical decisions, integrated care management, transfer center, clinical ethics, decreasing unwarranted clinical variation, and the work of the Chief Medical Officers across one of the nation’s largest not-for-profit health systems.

Prior to joining IU Health, Dr. Weaver was the CMO and COO at Eskenazi Health. In these roles he was responsible for the entirety of operations of one of the largest public hospital systems in the country. He has a commitment to driving safety, quality and performance improvement, coupled with an enthusiasm for teaching and advising students across the health care disciplines, all while caring for patients. He is a professor of emergency medicine at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Weaver has published widely in top medical journals. His research includes examining such topics as healthcare administration, emergency procedural sedation, and eye emergencies. He has used this research to advance medical practices. He has also studied the effects of telemonitoring in reducing readmission rates and ways to increase performance measure through quality enhancements.
