Bio
Dr. House is a graduate of Harvard Medical School and completed his general surgery residency at Johns Hopkins Hospital. He completed Complex General Surgical Oncology and Hepatopancreatobiliary Fellowships at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center before joining Indiana University School of Medicine in 2008. He has served as professor of surgery and chief of the Division of Surgical Oncology since 2019. His clinical interests in surgical oncology include the management of primary and secondary hepatic neoplasms, bile duct tumors, benign and malignant diseases of the pancreas, gastric cancer and sarcoma.
Dr. House was named interim chair of the Department of Surgery within the IU School of Medicine in 2021. He serves as co-director of the IU Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center’s Pancreatic Cancer Program and continues to carry teaching responsibilities that have been recognized with an IU School of Medicine Trustees Teaching Award and Inspirational Educator Award. He is co-editor of Clinical Decisions in Surgery and serves on the editorial boards for Annals of Surgery, Annals of Surgical Oncology, Journal of Gastrointestinal Surgery, and Surgery Open Science. Dr. House has co-authored more than 200 peer-reviewed publications.
Dr. House is a member of the American Surgical Association and Halsted Society. He is active in many national professional organizations where he holds leadership positions including program chair for the Society for Surgery of the Alimentary Tract and past chair of the Professional Standards Committee for the Americas Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Association.
