Bio

Dr. Ayesha Nichols is a board-certified psychiatrist specializing in general psychiatry, addiction psychiatry, and addiction medicine. Since 2015, she has served as the Medical Director of the Substance Use Disorder Recovery Program at the VA Medical Center in Indiana, where she is dedicated to providing compassionate, evidence-based care to veterans battling addiction.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Nichols holds an academic appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She plays an active role in the education and mentorship of future psychiatrists, working closely with both general psychiatry residents and addiction psychiatry fellows.

Dr. Nichols also serves her country as a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy Reserve Medical Corps, a role she has held since 2019.

Driven by a deep commitment to advocacy, Dr. Nichols is passionate about reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness—particularly substance use disorders—and works tirelessly to promote a more informed and compassionate approach to mental health in our society.
