Bio

Jui-Hung Jimmy Yen, PhD, is an Associate Professor of Microbiology and Immunology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. He joined the faculty in 2013 as an Assistant Professor after completing postdoctoral training in Neuroimmunology at Temple University School of Medicine in Philadelphia. Dr. Yen earned his PhD in Immunology from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, in 2007.

Dr. Yen’s research focuses on developing anti-inflammatory therapies for neuroinflammatory diseases, including ischemic stroke, multiple sclerosis (MS), Alzheimer’s disease, and vascular dementia. He also investigates the cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying the protective effects of these treatments. His work was previously supported by an NIH R01 grant and is currently funded by the Anna Yoder MS Fund and an Alzheimer’s Association Research Grant (AARG).

In addition to his research, Dr. Yen serves as the statewide co-director of the Host Defense course, where he teaches Immunology, Bacteriology, and Virology.
