I joined the faculty at the Indiana University School of Medicine in 1997 after obtaining a PhD in Biostatistics from the University of Michigan. I have enjoyed conducting collaborative research in many areas, primarily health services research, cancer research, and quality of life in chronic illness.

My collaborative interests include all aspects of cancer research, health services research, and quality of life research. My research interests are in the area of categorical data analysis. Many biomedical studies involve outcomes which are qualitative in nature. In my dissertation, I discuss using models which are non-linear in the model parameters to simultaneously model the univariate and bivariate marginal relationships in two-way and multi-way contingency tables having ordinal classification levels. This type of analysis is useful, for example, when studying rater agreement and social mobility data.
