Bio
Dr. Marc S. Rovner is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine, specializing in Pulmonology & Respiratory Care for Indiana University Health Physicians. He serves on several committees including the Wellness Advisory Committee, Quality Metrics Committee, and is the Director of Pulmonary Rehabilitation at IU Methodist Hosptial. He’s also a passionate educator to his patients & peers while mentoring/developing IU Pulmonary fellows. Dr. Rovner is motivated by the challenge of having to be skilled at many types of medical practice. What we do is hard. I like that! In Pulmonary and Critical Care we meet people at their most vulnerable and when they are their most stable. We care for the very sick, the chronically ill, inpatients, outpatients and through procedural medicine. I enjoy simplifying our complex field of study for our patients.
Dr. Rovner completed his undergraduate education at the University of Pennsylvania with a Bachelor of Science degree in Bioengineering, and a minor in Chemical Engineering. He earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania (which is now part of Drexel University) before completing his internship, residency, and fellowship at The Cleveland Clinic, in Cleveland OH. While at the Cleveland Clinic he was a combined Internal Medicine & Pediatrics resident, Chief Medical resident as well as on Staff in Pediatrics. Prior to joining Indiana University in 2017, he spent 22 years in private practice in northwest Ohio doing pulmonary, critical care, and sleep medicine as well as holding several executive leadership positions in the Mercy Health System. While in private practice, he earned a master’s degree in medical management from Carnegie Mellon University and is a Certified Physician Executive.
He is married to his wife Ellen of 34 years, an Oncology Nurse Practitioner at the Simon Cancer Center and together they have three strong successful adult daughters. In his spare time, he enjoys cycling, music, digital photography, golf, pickleball and travel.
