Bio

Dr. Wu earned her PhD from Fudan University and completed postdoctoral training in human genetics, bioinformatics, and genetic epidemiology at the University of California, San Diego, and Indiana University. She applies an integrative approach combining computational, comparative, and functional genomics to study complex disease mechanisms and advance personalized therapeutic interventions or treatments. Her research focuses on answering diabetes-related questions, including projects based on single cell resolution investigation of human circulating/pancreatic tissues in type 1 diabetes cohorts, and studies into the dynamics of transcriptional regulation of alternative splicing, chromatin regulation and remodeling in islets tissues, and linking those findings to circulating biomarkers in new-onset patients. Dr. Wu has published over 88 original research articles in peer-reviewed journals, accumulating more than 4,676 citations (Google Scholar, H-index = 31). She has presented her work widely at national/international conferences and serves as reviewer for multiple journals including Diabetes, Science Advances, Scientific Data, and Scientific Reports, etc. Dr. Wu’s work is supported by the NIDDK dkNET New Investigator Pilot Program in Bioinformatics, applying computational methods to quantify transcriptional changes and characterize tissue heterogeneity across multi-omic datasets. She serves as Associate Director of the Data and Analytics Core at the Center for Diabetes and Metabolic Disease (CDMD) and is a member of CDMD Executive Committee.
