Bio
Charles W. Matias, MD, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Psychiatry and as the Associate Program Director for the Indianapolis Psychiatry Residency.
Dr. Matias recently completed his residency with the department and served as the residency representative to the Indiana Psychiatric Society, strengthening collaboration between trainees and statewide psychiatric leadership.
In his new role, Dr. Matias will practice in the Goodman Hall Clinic. He will also contribute to the department's educational mission through possible involvement in resident medication management supervision.
Beyond his clinical and teaching work, Dr. Matias has contributed to medical education as a lecturer and small-group facilitator for the IU School of Medicine's "Neuroscience and Behavior" course, where he has been actively involved in curriculum design and student engagement. He has also contributed to the IU Psychiatry didactics curriculum, participating as a lecturer and assisting in the course design for the “Resident Boot Camp” programming.
Dr. Matias earned his medical degree from the IU School of Medicine and his undergraduate degree in Behavioral Neuroscience from the University of Evansville. His academic achievements include recognition as a recipient of the Kenneth L. and Selma G. Earnest Scholarship and a nominee for Best Senior Thesis for his undergraduate research on the effects of dietary phytoestrogens on physiology and behavior.
