Bio

Joshua Kaine, MD, is an emergency medicine physician and ultrasound faculty member at Indiana University whose work focuses on point-of-care ultrasound, faculty development, and system-level implementation. After completing residency at Brown University, he completed a Clinical Ultrasound Fellowship at IU and joined the IUEM faculty in 2022. Dr. Kaine practices in both academic and community emergency departments and has developed a particular interest in translating high-quality academic POCUS practice into practical, durable workflows for frontline clinicians. His work spans ultrasound education, quality assurance, dashboarding and analytics, image archiving and billing workflow optimization, and health system implementation. He currently serves in leadership roles within the IU Health POCUS program and emergency medicine Epic transition work, with broader interests at the intersection of medical education, ultrasound operations, and clinical informatics.
