Bio
Dr. Chi Mai Nguyen is an Assistant Research Professor in the Department of Biostatistics and Health Data Science and the Biostatistics & Data Management Core, Indiana Univeristy School of Medicine and Richard M. Fairbanks School of Public Health. She specializes in leveraging diverse real-world data, from electronic health records and insurance claims to genomic sequencing and patient-reported outcomes, to drive evidence-based clinical practice and inform health policy. Her work focuses on mapping structural pathways to health outcomes and applying advanced methods to correct bias and disentangle complex confounding.

Inspired by ideas and programs of a broad healthcare safety net for those who are in needs, her research focuses on understanding disparities in healthcare access, treatment and affordability, and quantifying their impacts on preventive care, treatment outcomes, health burdens and financial toxicity to propose suitable remedies.
Dr. Nguyen also studies benefits of universal health insurance and its co-existence of commercial health insurance in countries outside the US. Being an IU alumna, she is excited and proud to collaborate with researchers in Indiana University in medical and translational studies.
