Bio
Jim Davis received a B.S. in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University, an M.S. in Kinesiology from California State University, Fullerton, and a Ph.D. in Human Physiology from the University of Oregon. Prior to joining Indiana University, Dr. Davis served as a faculty member at Indiana State University, where he received the College Teacher of the Year Award (2019-20) and the Outstanding Service to the College Award (2020-21).
Dr. Davis has published articles in several journals, including Advances in Physiology Education, The Journal of Physiology, and The Journal of Applied Physiology. His research focuses on improving student learning outcomes in large classroom settings, the efficacy of exam retakes on student outcomes, and fostering trust between students and professors.
In 2024, Dr. Davis was named the New Investigator of the Year for the Teaching Section of the American Physiology Society and received the Shellhamer Outstanding Teacher Award from the Department of Anatomy, Cell Biology, and Physiology.
