Brad H. Rosen, DO
Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine
Director, IU Adult Severe Asthma Program (ASAP), University Hospital, IU Health
Bio
Dr. Rosen joined the faculty at Indiana University School of Medicine in 2022 as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Medicine in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care, Sleep, and Occupational Medicine.
After completing his Batchelor of Arts in Classics at Skidmore College with honors, he earned his medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine, where he was inducted into Sigma Sigma Phi, the osteopathic medical honors society.
His clinical training included residency in Internal Medicine at the University of New Mexico followed by Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellowship at University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. After his clinical training, he completed a postdoctoral research fellowship at the University of Iowa in epithelial lung biology, specifically as it relates to cystic fibrosis and other mucoinflammatory lung diseases.
He is actively engaged in medical education at all levels within the School of Medicine and the IU Health system.
Dr. Rosen is board certified in pulmonary and critical care. His primary areas of clinical and research focus are in inflammatory diseases of the airways, specifically cystic fibrosis and severe asthma. His outpatient clinics reflect this, and he is a member of the IU Adult CF Center and established and leads the Adult Severe Asthma Program at IU.

Dr. Rosen’s research mirrors my areas of clinical focus, namely severe asthma and cystic fibrosis, and I am involved in clinical research and trials in both fields.
He is the site PI for a PCORI comparative effectiveness research project comparing patient-centered approaches for the management of asthma exacerbations. Specifically, this clinical trial will directly compare how well two patient-activated approaches, SMART and PARTICS, perform in preventing asthma exacerbations and improving asthma control.
He also works closely with the IU Adult CF Center Director (Dr. C. Brown) in the CF space. Studies and trials he is involved in includes the Home-Reported Outcomes (HERO-2) study, which is an innovative real-world research observational cohort study that will improve understanding of the role of chronic daily therapy discontinuation in people with CF who are taking CFTR modulators. Additionally, Dr. Rosen is interested in those with CF who also have asthma.
