Bio
Paola Mattey Mora, PhD, joins the Department of Psychiatry after three years as a postdoctoral research fellow supporting departmental research through neuroimaging, study design, data analysis and grant writing.
Dr. Mattey Mora earned her PhD in Epidemiology and her Master of Public Health in Epidemiology from IU Bloomington. She also earned her bachelor’s and licenciatura degrees in Human Nutrition from the University of Costa Rica.
Her research focuses on the neuroimaging of risky decision-making, reward processing, impulsivity, and substance use in youth. She has also studied obesity and cognitive function in this population. Through the application of epidemiological and advanced biostatistical methods and analyzing large, longitudinal, and neuroimaging datasets, she identifies how biological, psychosocial, behavioral, and environmental factors contribute to psychiatric vulnerability and health issues.
