Bio
Katie Roza, MD, is a geriatrics and palliative medicine physician. She is passionate about providing care for the whole person and ensuring older adults receive care that meets their complex needs, and she is devoted to empowering the next generation of physicians to do the same. In the Bloomington Internal Medicine Residency, she teaches geriatrics, palliative care, and communications skills, and she is excited to guide residents in their growth. At IU Health, Dr. Roza is an outpatient geriatrics and palliative care physician. Previously, she worked in home-based primary care and palliative care in Queens, NY and Oakland, CA. She has given presentations on the needs of Deaf and hard-of-hearing patients and healthcare providers, and she teaches sessions of IU Talk, a course for improving provider communication skills.
Dr. Roza majored in English literature at Amherst College, Massachusetts, researched Deaf education in Italy as a Fulbright Scholar, and graduated from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, New York. She completed an internal medicine residency at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, PA, and a geriatrics and palliative medicine fellowship at Mount Sinai. She loves reading about spirituality, listening to music and musicals, taking long walks in nature, and sharing meaningful conversations with family and friends.
