Bio

Emma Eckrote, MD, is from Macy, Indiana and obtained her medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and was a Rural Medicine Education Program graduate. She will graduate from the IU Triple Board Program in June 2027.  Why IU Triple Board While in medical school, I was fortunate to work with many of the Triple Boarders, both current residents and IU TB grads, and I loved working with them. As I met more of the crew, I found that I loved the people within the program. I also wanted to stay in Indiana to practice, and I think there is so much benefit to training within the state. I felt like my goals are so supported by all of the program directors associated with the program. Finally, I love the many opportunities the pediatrics program offers, especially within complex care and working with medically complex children.  Future career plans I am interested in practicing combined general pediatrics and child and adolescent psychiatry in the rural, outpatient setting. Highlights you’ve enjoyed thus far The people here are the best! I have such great advocates here at IU: the faculty, my co-residents, and program leadership. Outside of work I enjoy long walks with the girlies, writing letters to friends and strangers, and spending time in the garden with an audiobook in my headphones. I love checking out new restaurants with my partner and throwing ugly little ceramic mugs on the weekends.
