Bio
Why IU Triple Board? ?I was drawn to IU’s Triple Board program because of its unique combination of outstanding training in pediatrics, general psychiatry, and child and adolescent psychiatry, along with the strong sense of community that was evident during my interview. Since starting residency, the program has exceeded my expectations. Even while rotating between specialties, I’ve felt genuinely supported and welcomed by each department, creating a true sense of belonging across all three disciplines. One of the greatest strengths of the program has been the camaraderie among both my co-residents and faculty, making residency both rewarding and enjoyable.? ? Any involvement (tracks, leadership positions): Completing residency at one of the largest medical schools in the nation, I have thoroughly enjoyed being a part of the medical education track. Additionally, I have enjoyed assisting with residency recruitment and currently serve as a co-chair for pediatric recruitment. This year, I am looking forward to shadowing/performing ECT with the goal of obtaining certification during residency.? ? Highlights you’ve enjoyed thus far: I’ve appreciated the program’s emphasis on maintaining a healthy work–life balance. Outside the hospital, I’ve been able to build meaningful friendships through activities like weekly trivia nights, exploring the various breweries/restaurants, biking on the Monon trail, and hosting friends at my house. The flexibility of the program has also allowed me to stay connected with family and friends, including visiting my twin brother in Utah, traveling abroad, and taking ski trips with longtime friends. These experiences have helped me stay grounded and return to work energized, allowing me to be the best resident I can be. ? Future career plans: What a great question! I could see myself being a “true triple boarder” with practicing all three disciplines in the future. For now, I anticipate most of my time as an attending will be spent on the inpatient side—inpatient psychiatric facility, med psych unit, consult liaison, why not the VA?
