Bio
Why I chose Family Medicine: My passion as a provider involves educating and motivating patients to make decisions and engage in wellness practices in their everyday lives that help prevent or slow the progression of chronic disease. I have a background in nutrition and fitness, and through family medicine, I can channel my experiences in both into sports medicine and lifestyle medicine with the hopes of practicing both after residency. Additionally, completing training in family medicine allows me to train with patients of all ages, expanding my clinical perspective and therefore sharpening my critical thinking and decision-making abilities.
Why I chose the IU Family Medicine Residency Program: On interview day, I was extremely impressed with the program’s comprehensive curriculum, personable faculty, and overall program organization. In addition to dedicated curricula for sports medicine and lifestyle medicine, IU offers a track in LGBTQ medicine which I hope to incorporate into my future practice. I visited Indianapolis twice before ranking began and absolutely loved the city as well. During my interview season, every IUFM resident I met was passionate, skilled, and confident, all of which were key aspects I was looking for in a potential residency team.
Interests and hobbies: Running, yoga, meditation, weightlifting, surfing, reading (mostly fiction), cooking, concerts, professional/college football and basketball, soccer.
Languages I speak fluently: English and Spanish
