Day 1

Thursday, June 4, 2026

6–8 p.m.
Marriott Hotel at Keystone Crossing

Mingle with classmates and fellow alumni in town early for Medical Alumni Weekend during an open-house-style reception at the Marriott Hotel at Keystone Crossing. The area surrounding the hotel, Keystone at the Crossing, offers numerous restaurants that take reservations. Consider joining us before or after dinner with your classmates.


Day 2

Friday, June 5, 2026

Then and now tour

9 a.m.–3 p.m.
Buses leave the Marriott at 8 a.m., with continuous roundtrip service throughout.

9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Tour the newly opened Medical Education and Research Building. This state-of-the-art facility features innovative classrooms, a bright atrium gathering space, advanced anatomy labs and an eight-story research tower designed to support the next generation of medical education and research. Come experience how IU School of Medicine is honoring its past while building the future of medical education. Hear from Dean Jay Hess about the transformation of IU School of Medicine during his 13 years as dean, as he and other key leaders discuss: Educating the Next Generation: Then, Now, and What’s Next

12–1 p.m.
Complimentary lunch buffet at the Medical Education and Research Building.

1–3 p.m.
Spotlight conversations with key leadership. Hear about advancing discoveries, redefining cancer care and transforming brain health from some of IU’s most distinguished faculty.

Join us for the 79th annual Strawberry Shortcake Luncheon as we honor this year’s recipients of the Distinguished Medical Alumni Award; George Sorrells, Jr., MD, Community Physician Award; Early Career Achievement Award; and the Glenn W. Irwin, Jr., MD, Distinguished Faculty Award. This time-honored tradition has been a highlight of Medical Alumni Weekend ever since IU physicians were first served the cream and crimson treat in 1947.
