In the research laboratory led by Zachary Adams, PhD, our team is focused on improving access to high-quality clinical services for children, teens and families impacted by mental health disorders and substance use. Through research, clinical care, and education, our goal is to increase the delivery of evidence-based services that promote mental health and emotional well-being and reduce risk for substance use problems in children and teens.
Active Projects
Active research initiatives include leading and collaborating on large-scale federally funded projects such as an NIH-supported clinical trial aimed at improving delivery of substance use-related services in an integrated primary care model (R33DA059948). The team is also studying the optimal ways to address adolescent alcohol and other substance use through brief intervention models, as well as exploring the role of technology in improving care delivery. The Adams Lab remains at the forefront of addressing complex mental health and substance use challenges through cutting-edge research and meaningful community impact.
The Adams Lab team collaborates closely with partners across Indiana and the United States to carry out our work. Our partners include experts from varied backgrounds, including behavioral health specialists, primary care providers, educators, local and state agencies, adolescents, parents and caregivers, and other researchers. Much of our work is carried out through the Adolescent Behavioral Health Research Program at the IU School of Medicine.
