Annie Clark

Annie Clark, MS, LMHC

Program Manager

Annie Clark Eagan, MS, LMHC, is a dedicated clinical research professional currently serving as a program manager. With extensive experience leading NIH-funded multi-site trials as the lead clinical research coordinator at the Indiana University School of Medicine, Annie brings a strong foundation in regulatory and operational excellence. Her expertise spans data use agreements, reliance agreements and standard operating procedures, ensuring compliance and efficiency across complex research collaborations. Annie holds a Master of Science in Counselor Education from Indiana University and is a licensed mental health counselor. She is deeply committed to advancing mental health research in pediatrics and advocating for improved resources for children with developmental disorders. In her free time, she loves to travel, read and spend time with her little girl, husband and yellow lab.

Angela Paxton

Angela Paxton, BS

Project Manager and Clinical Research Coordinator

Angela Paxton, BS, utilizes her experience as a quality engineer and parent of a young adult with autism in her role as project manager and clinical research coordinator. She ensures all clinical studies are maintained in accordance with the protocol, applicable regulations, Good Clinical Practice and Institutional Review Board requirements. Angela is an advocate for not only her own daughter with exceptionalities, but other children and their families as well. She promotes early intervention for all children that are uniquely abled and shares her experiences navigating special education, health care financing and accessing family support organizations.

Aditi Deodhar Research Scientist

Aditi Deodhar, PhD

Research Scientist

Aditi Deodhar, PhD is dedicated to leveraging her research and data analytics expertise to advance equity in early autism identification and intervention across Indiana and beyond. She earned her PhD in developmental psychology from IU Bloomington and has previously focused on projects in early childhood development, implementation science and community engagement. Aditi contributes to the HEART Lab's manuscripts, presentations and grant development. She also supports ongoing research operations and data analysis across numerous projects. Aditi enjoys reading and listening to audiobooks, crocheting afghans and traveling in her spare time. 

Paulina

Paulina Medina Lopez

Research Coordinator

Paulina Medina Lopez joined the IU School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics in July 2024. She graduated from IU Indianapolis in 2022 with a BS in health and human sciences. Paulina serves as a clinical research coordinator within the Division of Children's Health Services Research. Outside of office duties, Paulina enjoys traveling and spending time with her family and puppy.

Kacie Kinkade is a clinical research specialist. Her research focuses on IMPACT MH study with the HEART Lab. Kacie enjoys reading, nature, hiking and camping, being artsy and organization. 

Rachel Pollachek

Research Assistant

Rachel Pollachek was a clinical research technician in the Neural Systems Lab at IU Health University Hospital, as well as a behavioral consultant, primarily working with kids with autism. She is now a research assistant with the HEART Lab. Rachel is a foodie and love sharing recipes, cooking with people, and trying out new restaurants. She is also a big animal person and loves seeing photos of everyone's pets. Rachel loves to read, and historical fiction is her favorite genre. She enjoys playing and listening to live music, and has enjoyed finding open mic nights around the city.

Malak Belkacemi

Malak Belkacemi joined the lab as a sophomore in the fall semester of 2024. She works as an intern on projects focused on advancing early diagnosis and intervention strategies for autism. She is currently pursuing a pre-med track with a major in neuroscience and biology and a strong interest in pediatrics. After earning her bachelor's degree, Malak plans to attend medical school to become a pediatrician specializing in early diagnosis and intervention for developmental disorders, particularly autism. Her ultimate goal is to improve health care access and outcomes for underserved communities.

Manasa Swaminathan clinical psychology doctoral student

Manasa Swaminathan, MA

Clinical Psychology Doctoral Student

Manasa Swaminathan, MA, is a clinical psychology doctoral student at the University of Indianapolis. Her research and clinical work focus on understanding neurodevelopmental disabilities and addressing health inequities. Manasa has experience working with individuals across the lifespan as she has completed externships at diverse settings, including the Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center and IU School of Medicine. Under the mentorship of Dr. McNally Keehn, she is leading a global research initiative on autism screening and care within Indian communities in India and Indiana. Ultimately, she aspires to become a health services researcher and clinician skilled in understanding early detection of autism and other neurodevelopmental disabilities from a global lens.

Sam Veeraraghavan

Sanjana "Sam" Veeraraghavan

Intern

Sam Veeraraghavan is in her second year of a three-year program as part of the B/MD program at IU Indianapolis, aspiring to become a physician in the future. She is currently majoring in interdisciplinary studies on a pre-med track, but hopes to switch to biomedical sciences if/when the major gets approved. In high school, she led a two-year-long grant-funded service project to give fidget toys to children with autism who were receiving aid/therapy from local organizations and the Riley Children's Hospital. It was extremely rewarding, and she wants to use her role on the team as an opportunity to further contribute to the cause. Sam also really loves music; she plays violin, bass guitar and oboe, and has been involved in musical ensembles all her life.

Cristina James

Cristina James joined the lab half time as a data engineer, where she supports data management and analytics for the NIMH Impact-MH project. With a personal connection to the neurodevelopmental disabilities (NDD) field as the mother of two young adults with NDDs, Cristy is deeply committed to ensuring that research in this area is both accurate and representative. Outside of her work, Cristy enjoys spending time with her family, volunteering at a local animal rescue and mentoring a high school robotics team.

Ann Marie Martin, PhD, HSPP, is a clinical psychologist and assistant professor of clinical pediatrics in the Department of Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine. Her work is focused on improving equitable access to services for children with autism spectrum disorder particularly children from minoritized communities and monolingual Spanish-speaking households.

Leah Bode

Leah Bode worked for the McNally Keehn lab as an undergraduate student in 2021 and is now a fourth-year medical student at the IU School of Medicine. She greatly enjoyed her time working on the group's telehealth autism screening studies and will continue pursuing her interest in supporting families as an obstetrician-gynecologist after graduating form medical school.

Victoria Bozinovski

Victoria Bozinovski joined the research team in the summer of 2021. During her time with the team, she completed data entry and analysis for the pediatric autism hub project and shadowed site visits. She recently completed her undergraduate degree in medical humanities and health studies. She plans to attend law school in hopes of becoming a medical malpractice attorney. In her free time, she likes to run, sing and listen to podcasts.

Jennifer Hruaii attends IU Indianapolis, where she is majoring in biology with a minor in philanthropy. She came to the U.S. in 2014 from Mizoram, India, and became interested in Dr. McNally's early autism evaluation research after noticing a rise in autism diagnoses among Indian American children in her community. During her time in the lab, she gained a deeper understanding of early detection and the importance of reducing stigma around neurodevelopmental conditions in underrepresented populations.

Sarah Langdon joined our research team the summer after her freshman year in 2022 as a research assistant. She is graduating this winter with a bachelor's degree in psychology and minoring in medical humanities and health science. Currently, she is enrolled to attend Indiana University's Doctor of Occupational Therapy program this summer.

Anna Maddux is a junior at Indiana University Indianapolis pursuing a BS in neuroscience and a minor in art. She is interested in the early diagnosis, neurological differences and lifespan development of neurodevelopmental disorders. Anna has worked with the HEART Lab since 2024 and plans to study developmental medicine in the future.

Gisela Perez

Gisela Perez

Gisela Perez joined the lab in the summer of 2022 and served as a bilingual research assistant until the fall of 2024. She graduated from IU Indianapolis with a bachelor's degree in health sciences and is currently pursuing a master's in public affairs at the O'Neill School of Public and Environmental Affairs. During her time in the lab, she enjoyed connecting with the parents involved in the research and helping bridge the disparity gaps between Latino, Spanish-speaking parents and health care providers.

Stephanie Pozuelos is an undergraduate research assistant through the Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program and works with Dr. Ann Marie Martin on the Spanish hub. Currently, she is a fourth-year student studying biomedical informatics with minors in biology, chemistry and public health. Following graduation, she hopes to pursue a PhD in public health or biomedical sciences to study infectious diseases. Stephanie enjoys watching soccer, visiting museums and trying new food in her free time.

Veronicah Knight is a medical researcher with over a decade of research experience. She is the study coordinator for the ALAMA Project. She oversees the daily study operations according to the study protocol, manages project budgets and executes project's procurement plans according to the study objectives. She also maintains strict research studies regulator compliance. Veronicah has experience in leading multidisciplinary teams. She has also worked on projects related to HIV, malaria and non-communicable diseases including asthma, hypertension and cancer in Kenya. 

Mark Nyalumbe

Medical Psychologist

Mark Nyalumbe is a medical psychologist, clinical researcher and digital health specialist advancing child neurodevelopment, autism research and e-learning in Africa. He holds a bachelor's in medical psychology from Moi University and is pursuing an MSc in clinical psychology. Additionally, he holds postgraduate diplomas in clinical research methodology from Duke University and e-learning content design from Maastricht University. Mark founded Doctor-Mind Brain Health and is the third chair of the Medical Psychologists Association of Kenya. His research expertise spans electroencephalography (EEG), event-related potentials (ERP), eye-tracking, the NIH Toolbox and standardized developmental assessments. Notably, he contributed to the Tabiri Study, which evaluated how home environments influence early childhood neurodevelopment across western Kenya. Currently, Mark is a researcher with the ALAMA Study at AMPATH Kenya, investigating eye-tracking and neurobehavioural biomarkers to improve the early detection and diagnosis of autism in Kenya and other low- and middle-income countries.

Viloet Amondi is a research assistant on the ALAMA Project investigating autism diagnostic outcomes and eye-tracking markers in young children in Kenya. She is also currently pursuing a masters in clinical psychology at Moi University and plans to pursue a PhD in clinical psychology specializing in child psychology. She is interested in psychological and diagnostic assessments for neurodevelopmental delays to enable early identification and interventions. Ultimately, she aims to develop affordable, accessible behavioral interventions and resources for autistic children and their families in Kenya and other resource-constrained settings.

Erick Muhando, Medical Psychologist, Kenya partner with HEART Lab

Muhando Erick is a licensed medical psychologist at AMPATH Paediatric Research in Eldoret, Kenya. He currently contributes to the ALAMA Project through administration of Bayley Scales of Infant and Toddler Development (Bayley-4) and eye tracking assessments. Driven by a commitment to community impact, he also serves as an autism navigator and educator through the Takia Programme. In this capacity, he empowers caregivers by providing vital education, specialized training and peer support networks designed to strengthen family resilience and maximize child development. His unique foundation includes former experience in geriatric research, rehabilitation psychology and holistic mental health care, which now enriches his current focus on pediatric neurodevelopment. With a growing passion for clinical psychology and neuropsychometrics, he is committed to advancing precision in psychological assessment and innovation in mental health research across the life span specifically for children with developmental disorders and older adults with neurodegenerative conditions. Outside of professional work, he enjoys marathon running, badminton, traveling and hiking.

Boke Carolyne is a research assistant on the ALAMA Project. She holds a bachelor's degree in special needs education from Moi University and is currently pursuing a master's in special needs education to support learners with diverse needs. She has experience in conducting developmental assessments and works with key stakeholders through caregiver education, family support and research exploring the experiences of families and professionals supporting children with autism. Boke is committed to contributing to research that improves clinical and educational practices, and improves developmental outcomes for children with autism and other disabilities in Kenya.

Research Assistant

Regina Amondi is a research assistant with the ALAMA Project at AMPATH, Kenya, where she assesses child development using the Bayley-4. She is pursing a master's degree in special needs education to strengthen her expertise in supporting children with diverse developmental disorders. Regina co-facilitated an applied behavior analysis (ABA) program, education caregivers about autism and challenging behaviors. She also contributed to adapting ASD-PEDS for autism diagnosis in low-resource clinics in Western Kenya. She is committed to translating research into inclusive practices that improve outcomes and promote equitable access to education, care and developmental support for children with special needs.

Brighton Ochieng is a medical psychologist and a researcher in the ALAMA Project. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Medical Psychology from Moi University and has experience in clinical mental healthcare, neurodevelopmental and psychological assessment, psychotherapy and health research. His work focuses on supporting autism research, data collection, participant engagement and evidence-based interventions to improve health outcomes. Brighton is passionate about advancing mental health through research, clinical practice and community outreach. His professional interests include child and adolescent mental health, neurodevelopmental disorders, implementation science, health research and integrating mental health services into healthcare systems.
