Dear Department of Family Medicine community,
I am elated to share a warm and heartfelt welcome message with every one of you as we begin this exciting journey together at the Indiana University School of Medicine Department of Family Medicine. My name is Kola Okuyemi, and I am honored to serve as your new chair.
As we embark on this new chapter, I am inspired by the incredible legacy of excellence that precedes us, especially the leadership by our immediate past chair Kevin Gebke, MD, and interim chair Deanna Willis, MD, MBA. The Department of Family Medicine has a rich history of innovative education, impactful scholarship and compassionate, comprehensive care to our community. It is my utmost priority to build upon these foundations.
I believe in fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where each member of our team plays a vital role in shaping the future of academic family medicine. I am inspired and encouraged by your dedication, expertise, and passion in my interactions with you over the past year. These attributes are the cornerstones of our continued success, and I am eager to work alongside each one of you.
