At Indiana University Melvin and Bren Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center, we know that research cures cancer.
IU has done it before: Five decades ago, an IU team led by Lawrence Einhorn, MD, developed the cure for testis cancer. This trailblazing work has since saved the lives of hundreds of thousands of young men worldwide. Today, Dr. Einhorn continues to work alongside more than 300 cancer researchers dedicated to defeating cancer.
A research center within Indiana University School of Medicine, the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center serves as the central hub of cancer research and education across Indiana University. It is the state’s only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and one of only 57 in the nation. The comprehensive designation recognizes the center’s excellence in basic, clinical, and population research, outstanding educational activities, and effective community outreach across the state. It is also the state’s only member of the National Comprehensive Cancer Network, a not-for-profit alliance of 33 leading cancer centers. Through the network, the center’s physicians play a role in determining the recognized standard of care for all cancers.
