Emil Adsit, MSEd, LMHC
Mental Health Clinician/Learner Success Liaison
Education: Mr. Adsit earned his BA in psychology, as well as his MSEd in counseling and counselor education from Indiana University. He is now a licensed mental health counselor (LMHC) in Indiana.
Experience: Following graduate school, Mr. Adsit worked at a community mental health center in Bloomington for three years, specializing in short-term therapy and crisis response services. He then moved to Indianapolis where he worked at Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) at IU Indianapolis for seven years, working with both undergraduate and graduate students. In his role, Mr. Adsit provided both short-term and long-term therapy services, as well as engaging in crisis intervention, practicum training and outreach efforts.
Specialty/Concentration: Mr. Adsit has over 10 years of experience working with higher education population. During this time, he has treated concerns related to depression, anxiety, communication and relationship issues, identity development, grief/loss and stress management. Mr. Adsit is also dedicated to outreach programs that help combat stigma against and promote awareness for mental health.
Andrew Brown, PhD, HSPP
Psychologist
Education: Dr. Brown earned his BS in Psychology and Philosophy from Grand Valley State University. He then earned an M.S.Ed. and PhD in Counseling Psychology at Purdue University and completed his predoctoral internship at The University of Tennessee.
Experience: Dr. Brown joined the Department of Mental Health Services team in June 2024 from Marian University, bringing with him several years of experience working with medical students. Throughout his training and career, Dr. Brown has significant experience in higher education settings, including at DePauw University, Purdue, The University of Tennessee, and Marian University.
Specialty/Concentration: Dr. Brown has specialized in higher education settings helping students of all levels address internal and external concerns that may be affecting their ability to reach their desired goals. Such concerns include depression, anxiety, family of origin concerns, or trauma, as well as addressing time management concerns, study skills, test anxiety, and other factors directly related to academic success. Additionally, Dr. Brown has specialized in working with individuals dealing with grief and loss, including non-death losses, especially breakups.

Eric Comstock, MA, LMFT, LCAC
Mental Health Clinician
Education: Mr. Comstock earned his BA from Michigan State University and completed graduate and professional training in California, including a certificate in chemical dependency studies from California State University, East Bay, and an MA in counseling psychology from John F. Kennedy University. He is a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) and licensed clinical addiction counselor (LCAC) in Indiana.
Experience: Mr. Comstock brings 25 years of experience as a behavioral health clinician. For the last 15 years, he has worked with physicians, residents and fellows through the Indiana State Medical Association (ISMA) Physician Assistance Program and with dentists through the Indiana Dental Association (IDA) Well-Being Program. This work has given him extensive experience helping healthcare professionals navigate the personal and professional demands of training and practice.
Mr. Comstock has also contributed to published research in acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT). He provided clinical training and helped develop an ACT intervention for a study published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings, in which psychiatry residents delivered ACT within a highly stressful medical environment.
Mr. Comstock also maintains a private practice in Indianapolis serving adults, couples and families. He has lived and practiced in the Indianapolis area since 2001, where he and his wife of 30 years raised their two daughters.
Specialty/Concentration: Mr. Comstock’s clinical interests include performance pressure, anxiety, perfectionism and imposter feelings, stress and burnout, work-life balance, relationship concerns, substance use and recovery, and life and career transitions.
His approach is collaborative, practical and evidence-based, integrating ACT, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing (MI) and Gottman Method principles based on each person's needs and goals.
Mr. Comstock's goal is to provide a setting where medical learners can step outside the expectations of their professional roles, speak openly about what they are experiencing and develop practical strategies that support their personal, relational and professional well-being.

Cissy DuValle
Program Coordinator
Education: Ms. DuValle attended both IUPUI and Indiana Business College.
Experience: Ms. DuValle joined the Department of Mental Health Services in June 2024. She first joined IU in 2003 as an Administrative Assistant in the Department of Family Health at the IU School of Nursing. Ms. DuValle transferred to IUPUI Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) in 2004 where she expanded her position over the years from Administrative Assistant to Senior Office Coordinator.
Specialty/Concentration: Ms. DuValle’s focus is on project and financial coordination for the department as well as patient care.
