Yes. Applications are reviewed in December and top applicants will be invited to a Graduate Recruitment Weekend in Bloomington in late January (typically the 3rd or 4th weekend in January). Prospective applicants will be reimbursed for hotel and travel to and from Bloomington. The GRW, which typically runs Thursday afternoon - Saturday morning, will be an opportunity for the faculty to interview you, for you to meet the current graduate students, and for you to get an in-depth look at the program and campus.
Yes. All students who are admitted typically receive financial support in the form of a teaching assistant (associate instructor) position. This position comes with a tuition remission, a competitive stipend, and health insurance.
Graduate students who are on an SAA (student academic appointment, such as a teaching assistantship position) also receive health insurance as part of their employment package.
Yes, the TOEFL exam (or the IELTS exam) is required for international applicants. Please send TOEFL scores to Indiana University Graduate School using code 1324, no department code is required. If the applicant has completed a degree at an institution taught in English AND in a country where the official/primary language is English, this requirement is waived.
