The J.O. Ritchey Society recognizes individuals who make planned gift commitments or make provisions to support IU School of Medicine through their estates. Participation in the J.O. Ritchey Society helps ensure the future of IU School of Medicine and the health and wellbeing of generations to come. Donors in this society receive invitations to special events at IU School of Medicine and updates on the school’s programs.
About J.O. Ritchey
The society is named for James Oscar Ritchey, a beloved IU School of Medicine faculty member and graduate of the Class of 1918. Ritchey served as chairman of the Department of Medicine, was named a distinguished professor, and became the first Indiana physician to be elected a Master of the American College of Physicians. Ritchey continued to serve IU School of Medicine long after retirement and established one of the first planned gifts to benefit the school.
