Fellowship Training

Led by Timothy Masterson, MD, the Urologic Oncology Fellowship Program is a two-year program comprised of one research year followed by one year of clinical fellowship. The program provides comprehensive training in clinical genitourinary oncology through advanced surgical training, multidisciplinary didactics and clinical/translational research work.

Led by Benjamin Whittam, MD, MS, the Pediatric Urology Fellowship is a two-year, ACGME-accredited fellowship that provides subspecialty training in the clinical care of children with urologic disease at Riley Hospital for Children at IU Health.

Led by Chandru Sundaram, MD, the Minimally Invasive Surgery Fellowship is a one or two-year program that focuses on laproscopic and robotic surgical techniques and provides comprehensive training in minimally invasive urology surgery. Fellows in this program have an opportunity to earn a master’s degree in clinical research from IU School of Medicine as part of the program.

Led by Marcelino Rivera, MD, the Endourology Fellowship is a one or two-year program that focuses on complex surgical and metabolic management of stone disease with a focus on percutaneous nephrolithotomy. The fellowship also provides a unique opportunity to learn holmium laser enucleation of the prostate (HoLEP) for benign prostatic hyperplasia.

Accredited through the ACGME and the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, there is a position every other year for a urology resident in the Pelvic Medicine and Reconstructive Surgery Fellowship program. The fellowship duration is two years. The fellow will spend two months per year working with the urogynecology team and will focus on reconstructive surgery with Charles Powell, MD, and Matthew Mellon, MD.

Led by Helen Bernie, DO, MPH, the Andrology/Male Sexual and Reproductive Medicine Fellowship is the first training program in andrology/sexual medicine in Indiana, and one of only 19 in the United States. The program trains fellows to provide specialized care in the evaluation, diagnosis and treatment of issues like erectile dysfunction, Peyronie’s disease, male infertility and more.
