You, as a member of the Indiana University School of Medicine community, undoubtedly care about health and healing. But despite knowing the benefits of being well and working to create a healthy and strong community, you might find that it’s easy to put your work ahead of your own wellness.
Good news: The work of keeping yourself well just got easier.
“Indiana University and IU School of Medicine offer many resources to support well-being, but locating these resources hasn’t always been easy,” said Kristen Fitzgerald, wellness and engagement program manager with Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and a member of the Well-Being Strategic Plan Steering Committee.
That committee set out to make it easier for all members of the IU School of Medicine community — faculty, staff, students, residents and trainees — to access well-being resources that are available to them, without having to weed through dozens of webpages in the process.
“One of the issues we’ve heard is that it’s hard to find resources and understand what you’re eligible for, because information is on multiple disconnected websites,” said Mary Dankoski, PhD, executive associate dean for Faculty Affairs and Professional Development and a member of the Well-Being Strategic Plan Steering Committee. “Our goal was to organize that scattered information into one convenient hub that’s easy to navigate based on your role.

“Part of the IU School of Medicine strategic plan to improve health and wellness is focused on the well-being of our own community,” said Dankoski. “We see this as a collective priority and want the school to be a place that brings out the best of everyone.”
Fitzgerald agrees: “It is my hope that IU School of Medicine community members will use the wellness hub to find resources to address their existing wellness needs and learn about new resources that can help them thrive.”
