Curriculum
The Emergency Medicine Residency curriculum consists of 13 four-week blocks, providing a uniform experience in each clinical rotation.

Specialty Tracks
Emergency Medicine residents can pursue one of seven specialty tracks to gain experience in an area of interest.
Program Aim
The Department of Emergency Medicine aims to shape and create the future of emergency medicine. The Emergency Medicine Residency program’s aim supports the department’s purpose by recruiting high-quality candidates to be leaders in the field of emergency medicine. As one of the most well-established programs in the country and the flagship program for the state, we seek to train physicians who will excel in all areas of the specialty including the practice of clinical emergency medicine, departmental leadership, medical education, research and patient advocacy. Rooted in our legacy of excellence and with a clear vision of the future, we train emergency medicine leaders by adhering to a set of core values including:

Combined Residency
The IU School of Medicine combined emergency medicine and pediatrics residency is a five-year, ACGME-accredited program. Two positions are offered each year.

Current Residents
IU School of Medicine residents in the categorical and Emergency Medicine/Pediatrics combined residency programs train with accomplished faculty physicians to prepare for a broad range of careers.

Graduates of the Emergency Medicine Residency program are practicing medicine all over the United States, creating a large and active network.
