Accelerating Research with Cutting-Edge Informatics

Informatics is a Research Area of Excellence of the Children's Health Services Research Center (CHSR). The Pediatric Health Informatics Research Program (PHIRE) is a service within CHSR to assist clinician-investigators to accomplish the next generation of clinical research. It is the home to the Child Health Informatics Research and Development Laboratory (CHIRDL).

Vision

Many domains of patient-centered research will require sophisticated and multi-disciplinary expertise in interactions with clinical informatics tools to remain competitive and productive in the coming years.

Mission

  • Provide broad technical support with CHIRDL, grant writing resources and project management for pediatric investigators seeking to submit proposals and perform clinical research in informatics.
  • Provide mentorship to early- and mid-career faculty seeking to develop expertise in clinical informatics research.
  • Maintain relationships with partners across Indiana University School of Medicine involved in clinical research, including the Regenstrief Institute, the Indiana CTSI and our clinical partners at IU Health and Eskenazi Health.

Project Domains

Data Science

Data is a powerful tool that can transform patient outcomes and streamline clinical operations. Our data science solutions in clinical care are designed to harness the vast amounts of health care data, from sources such the IU Health Enterprise Data Warehouse and REDCap, turning them into actionable insights that drive better decision-making and enhance patient care.

Clinical Application Development

In the rapidly evolving world of health care, staying ahead means embracing innovation. Our Clinical Application Development services are designed to revolutionize the way health care professionals deliver care. By leveraging the latest technologies, such as mHealth and web-based tools, we create custom applications that streamline clinical workflows, enhance patient engagement and improve outcomes.

Integrated EMR Projects

In the fast-paced world of health care, seamless access to patient information is crucial for delivering high-quality care. Our integrated EMR (electronic medical record) projects, such as patient-facing automated diagnosis and decision support systems, are designed to unify disparate health care systems, providing an integrated, comprehensive and cohesive view of patient data.
