This predoctoral and postdoctoral training program in adult and pediatric pulmonary and critical care medicine trains new generations of learners to become outstanding researchers or entrepreneurs. This program enables one predoctoral PhD student and four postdoctoral fellows (PhD, MD, PhD/MD) to participate in novel pulmonary related research including chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), emphysema, pulmonary hypertension, asthma, cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, Intensive care unit delirium, critical care outcomes and early origins of adult lung disease.
The T32 mechanism provides support for PhD students including tuition and fees. A stipend is assigned individually to trainees based on the current graduate student stipend amounts. Health insurance as well as up to $1,000 per year is provided to cover travel costs to a professional/scientific meeting or to visit an external lab for additional training.
