The Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Indiana University School of Medicine is nationally recognized for excellence in patient care, education and research. Guided by a mission to advance health in Indiana and beyond, our faculty deliver innovative clinical care, train the next generation of specialists and lead groundbreaking research in digestive diseases. Since its founding in 1958 by Philip Christiansen, MD, the division has grown into a nationally prominent program through the leadership of Lawrence Lumeng, MD, Naga Chalasani, MD, Glen Lehman, MD, and current Division Chief Mohammad Al-Haddad, MD, continuing a legacy of excellence that shapes the future of gastroenterology and hepatology.
