The IU School of Medicine Department of Surgery offers 12 accredited fellowship programs open to physicians who have completed general surgery residency training: Adult Cardiothoracic Surgery; Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary (HPB) Surgery (Transition to Practice); Minimally Invasive Surgery and Bariatrics; Surgical Critical Care; Acute Care Surgery; Pediatric Surgery; Abdominal Transplant Surgery; Vascular Surgery; and Plastic Surgery in the areas of burn, hand and craniofacial surgery. Residency graduates may also continue training through the Integrated Residency/Fellowship Program which encompasses three years of plastic surgery residency training and three years of fellowship experience.

Breast Surgical Oncology
Breast Surgical Oncology fellows will rotate through four clinical sites, gaining exposure to a unique blend of community and academic practices.

Burn Surgery
The Burn Surgery Fellowship offers specialty training in burn care and management.

Cardiothoracic Surgery
The Division of Cardiothoracic Surgery offers an ACGME-accredited three-year fellowship for those individuals who have successfully completed general surgery residency.

Craniofacial Surgery
The Craniofacial Fellowship offers experience in craniofacial and cleft surgery, facial trauma, microsurgery, and aesthetic surgery at one of the largest craniofacial units in the United States.

Hand Surgery
The Hand Surgery Fellowship is a challenging and multidisciplinary program that covers the full breadth and depth of the specialty.

Hepato-Pancreato-Biliary Surgery
This one-year transition-to-practice program provides the most robust HPB operative experience available in North America and emphasizes preoperative, operative and postoperative care.

Minimally Invasive Surgery
The Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) and Bariatric Fellowship exposes fellows to a rich blend of bariatric and advanced minimally invasive surgery.

Pediatric Surgery
The Pediatric Surgery Fellowship offers extensive preoperative, operative and postoperative experience in neonatal surgery, pediatric surgical oncology, ECMO and pediatric trauma.

Plastic Surgery
The Division of Plastic Surgery offers an ACGME-accredited three-year fellowship for those who have successfully completed general surgery residency.

Surgical Acute Care
The Surgical Acute Care Fellowship uses a transition-to-practice model with experience in two Level I trauma centers.

Surgical Critical Care
The Surgical Critical Care Fellowship offers subspecialty training in unique dedicated surgical critical care environments including two level I trauma centers.

Transplant Surgery
The Division of Abdominal Transplant Surgery is ASTS accredited for three fellows every two years.

Vascular Surgery
The Vascular Surgery Fellowship offers subspecialty training in the full spectrum of vascular surgery.
