Program Director

Thank you for your interest in the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Fellowship program at Indiana University School of Medicine. As the largest medical school in the nation, IU School of Medicine is home to one of the most comprehensive GI divisions in the country and serves as the only tertiary care center for gastroenterology and hepatology in Indiana.

Our fellowship program is designed to support and guide trainees in reaching their full potential, achieving personal goals and succeeding in a variety of professional settings, whether in academic medicine or community practice. With a large and dedicated faculty whose strengths span a wide range of subspecialties, we offer a robust and personalized three-year training experience.

Fellows rotate through multiple sites on our downtown Indianapolis campus, each offering unique strengths and contributing to a well-rounded education in both clinical practice and research.

Associate Program Director

I am honored to be your associate program director for simulation and fundamentals of endoscopy. This role aims to formalize our early training pathways in endoscopy, especially in the first year of training as it is a critical period in the endoscopy journey. Throughout your fellowship, you will participate hands-on in a high volume of various endoscopy procedures and indications while being supervised by nationally renowned experts in each sub-field of gastroenterology. We strive to help you build solid roots to master the basics of endoscopy techniques, ergonomics and equipment and tools from day one. We also have opportunities to participate in simulation modules, aiming to have all the tools that would shape you in to a well-rounded and independent endoscopist.

Associate Program Director

Hello prospective fellows! My role as associate program director fits with my career mission of helping colleagues at all levels develop the most fulfilling careers possible. In this role, I work on curriculum and professional development. While all our fellows are well-trained in general gastroenterology, I hope you leave here with special skills needed to advance academic medicine and the health of our Hoosier community in the coming decades. I will work to help you build the career that is the best fit for you. One of our biggest strengths is our faculty — we have excellent mentors for a huge range of clinical topics. Ask me about our GME pathways — Leadership, Healthy Outcomes, Global Health and Clinician-Educator. I’m also happy to discuss other training opportunities available through IU, such as business, public health, research, informatics, ethics and omics. I look forward to meeting you!

Associate Program Director

I am an associate professor of medicine in the Division of Gastroenterology and am privileged to serve as an associate program director for the fellowship program.

As a graduate of this fellowship, I chose to remain on faculty because of the division’s vibrant and collaborative research environment. In my role, I mentor fellows in their research and professional development while advocating for their success throughout training. One of the most rewarding aspects of this work is hearing fellows describe feeling heard and empowered to shape systems that enhance their clinical learning experience.

We wish you an enriching, invigorating and meaningful time here. The years ahead will challenge, inspire and shape you in ways you may not yet imagine. Associate Program Director

Here at Indiana University School of Medicine, I lead a team that is committed to promote the use of social media primarily for information sharing with friends of the division. We post links to articles and videos that showcase the clinical and research accomplishments of the faculty and fellows. Our content on ongoing events within the division is reflective of our culture and values. We believe that social media offers a platform for collaborative learning of gastroenterology and hepatology related interests. We encourage our faculty and fellows to follow other educators, key opinion leaders, journals and professional societies to keep up with the latest trends, research and best practices in education. Social media helps us connect with our educators around the world, our alum and potential fellowship candidates. We are mindful of privacy concerns and take steps to protect personal information. Fellowship Coordinator

As the education program administrator and fellowship coordinator, I am here to support you every step of the way — from interviews and onboarding through three years of training and ultimately graduation.
