Advanced Endoscopy Research

Faculty physicians in the Division of Gastroenterology-Hepatology who specialize in advanced endoscopy are leaders in the field and teach other professionals about ERCP and Endoscopic ultrasound as it pertains to pancreatobiliary disease. They are specialists in photodynamic therapy, endoscopic GERD therapy and other therapeutic endoscopy procedures.

Members of this faculty team are involved in an ongoing partnership with the device manufacturers in designing and evaluating instrumentation for ERCP.

Active Studies

Faculty in this division is on the forefront of endoscopic research in the pancreaticobiliary tree and are recognized authorities on the application of ERCP to diseases of the pancreas and biliary tree. Primary research is focused on diagnostic and therapeutic ERCP, Sphincter of Oddi manometry, and gastroesophageal reflux. Endoscopy Suite Photo Ongoing studies in endoscopic management of idiopathic pancreatitis and prevention of post-ERCP pancreatitis are also active.

The Advanced Endoscopy Program at Indiana University School of Medicine is dedicated to advancing the science of endoscopy. Through it partnership with IU Health, a high-volume health network, faculty physicians treat a large and diverse patient population and are actively involved with clinical research, guaranteeing exposure to the latest advances in the field and ensures world-class service to patients. Each team (including ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound, and Innovative Endoscopy) has a robust collection of ongoing research studies.

Advanced Endoscopy Research Team

The Advanced Endoscopy Research Team is a group consisting of our physicians, research nurses, research technicians and administrative support staff who carry out the research mission.

This team’s research is supported by federally funded NIH studies, industry-sponsored studies and investigator initiated studies supported by the division.
