Welcome to the Indiana University School of Medicine Pediatric Residency program.

Thank you for your interest in the IU School of Medicine Pediatric Residency program. I completed my residency at IU School of Medicine and then specialized in neonatology. Morris Green, MD, a pioneer in advocating family-centered medicine, was the chair of the Department of Pediatrics, physician-in-chief of Riley Hospital for Children and my mentor. Among the many things that he taught me was that a patient is more than a disease and that we should always strive to see the whole patient — not just the disease. To this day, we embody his philosophy in everything we do at Riley Children's Hospital.

As chair of the Department of Pediatrics since 2009, I am proud of this department’s focused commitment on training the next generation of outstanding pediatricians and of the national and international accolades our faculty have received for their expertise and innovations in child health care. At the core of what we are, we provide family-centered, state-of-the-art care for the children of Indiana.

With more than 300,000 patient visits annually, if you want training across the variety of conditions and diseases affecting children, you will see it here. Riley Hospital has always been a leader in innovation, including being in the top ten departments of pediatrics in the United States in NIH funding. The results of our research benefit not only children in Indiana, but children throughout the world. Today our research programs are providing exciting breakthroughs and our faculty are leaders in new areas of research such as genomics and personalized medicine.
