IU Health West Hospital is a rapidly growing community-based hospital that has significantly expanded its services in recent years. One fellow is assigned to the ICU service at a time, creating a highly personalized learning environment with direct attending supervision and individualized instruction.
The rotation offers valuable exposure to community hospital practice while allowing fellows to develop clinical autonomy and leadership skills in a smaller-team setting.

Methodist Hospital is a large tertiary referral center and community-based teaching hospital. As the largest hospital in the IU Health system, with more than 100 ICU beds, it serves as the primary clinical training site for critical care fellows. As a Level I Trauma Center and home to the cardiovascular and thoracic surgery programs, Methodist provides extensive exposure to ECMO, heart and lung transplantation, neurocritical care and other complex critical care populations.
Typically, two to three pulmonary and critical care fellows are assigned to Methodist Hospital at any given time, and critical care fellows spend the majority of their training here.

Richard L. Roudebush VA Medical Center is a tertiary referral and primary care center serving veterans across Indiana and the surrounding region. The facility includes a 12-bed ICU and receives transfers from smaller VA hospitals requiring a higher level of care. Typically, two fellows are assigned to the VA at any given time, covering the ICU, pulmonary consults and a busy bronchoscopy suite. Fellows also gain experience interpreting pulmonary function tests and home oxygen evaluations alongside faculty.

As a Level I Trauma Center and regional burn referral center, Eskenazi offers fellows exposure to a diverse and medically complex patient population.
Typically, three fellows are assigned to Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital, staffing two ICU teams and providing pulmonary consultative services. Each fellow also maintains a continuity clinic at Eskenazi Health, fostering longitudinal patient relationships throughout training.

University Hospital is a quaternary referral center and home to a broad range of subspecialty services. Fellows rotate through the medical ICU, perform pulmonary and critical care consults on complex subspecialty cases and gain hands-on experience in bronchoscopy and pulmonary function testing. Typically, three pulmonary and critical care fellows are assigned to University Hospital at any given time. During their second and third years, fellows also have the option to work paid ICU night shifts.
Specialized services unique to University Hospital include Hepatology, Advanced Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, the Transplant ICU and the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit.
