Education is central to the fellowship experience. Fellows engage in a robust mix of conferences spanning clinical care, research and subspecialty learning, with additional opportunities to participate in statewide updates and national meetings.
Core Weekly Conferences
Division-wide grand rounds where a faculty member and fellow each present a 30-minute topic. Once monthly, two fellows present journal club articles.
Targeted educational sessions designed specifically for fellows. Lunch is provided.
Division-wide forum featuring presentations from local and visiting researchers highlighting ongoing work.
Weekly conference hosted at Methodist Hospital, alternating between clinical case presentations and journal club.
Subspecialty and Case-Base Conferences
Weekly subspecialty case conferences centered on multidisciplinary discussion and complex patient care.
These sessions are optional, and fellows are encouraged to attend to present cases or participate in discussion.
Statewide Conferences
The division hosts statewide medical update conferences on an alternating basis, including Pulmonary Updates and Critical Care Updates. Fellows are invited to attend these sessions for broader clinical learning.
National Conferences
Fellows are encouraged to attend national conferences, with financial support available to help offset travel and participation costs.
